Day trips worth doing

  • 1.5 hour drive to Kluane National Park and Haines Junction (check out Village Bakery, and many fantastic trails in the vicinity) Kluane National Park and Reserve
  • 1 hour drive to Braeburn Lodge and world famous cinnamon buns bigger than your head! www.karo-ent.com/braeburn.htm
  • Yukon Wildlife Preserve http://www.yukonwildlife.ca
  • Yukon River Cruise http://www.yukonrivercruises.com
  • 2 hour drive to the Pacific Ocean and Skagway Alaska - the scenery is fantastic along the way. Skagway is a cruiseship destination, so can be busy when the harbour is full. Many tourist and jewellery shops. www.skagway.com
  • WhitePass and Yukon Railway trip www.wpyr.com/yukonadventure.html. You can take a train from Carcross to Skagway, or vice versa. You can also do the return trip, or have someone meet you at the other end to pick you up.
  • While in Skagway - if you want to get out on the ocean and see the marine life I have heard the High Speed Catamaran from Skagway to Juneau is worth it www.alaskafjordlines.com.

For those with more time - Don't miss
Dawson City (6 hour drive to the heart of the Gold Rush)
Dempster Highway (World class scenery)
Hiking the Chilkoot Trail (recommend min. 3 days)
